COMPANY CAR TAX CHANGES IN 2012

There are a number of changes coming for Company Car Drivers in 2012 but BMW aims to keep you ahead of the game with the BMW Efficient Dynamics range which will include:

  • BMW 116d Efficient Dynamics - CO2 emissions 99g/km, BIK 13%, 74.3mpg combined
  • BMW 320d Efficient Dynamics - CO2 emissions 109g/km, BIK 13%*, 68.9mpg combined
  • BMW X1 sDrive20d Efficient Dynamics - CO2 emissions 119g/kn, BIK 13%*, 62.8mpg combined
  • BMW 520d Efficient Dynamics - CO2 emissions 119g/km, BIK 13%*, combined 62.8mpg

BENEFIT-IN-KIND TAX

*At the end of April 2012 the threshold for the lowest BIK tax (10% for petrol and 13% for diesel cars) drops to 99g/km.  BMW's new 116d Efficient Dynamics already meets this level and is available to order now.

WRITING DOWN ALLOWANCES

UK capital allowances favour cars with low emissions and high residual values, making them more cost-effective to buy or lease.  The main and higher writing-down allowances rates will reduce by 2% from April 2012 to 18% and 8% respectively.  However cars that emit less than 110g/km of C02 such as the BMW 116d Efficient Dynamics and 320d Efficient Dynamics will continue to qualify for a 100% first-year allowance until 2013.

FUEL DUTY

At the moment duty is scheduled to increase twice in 2012.  Since 2005 BMW's most efficient models have become 26% more efficient versus a 25% real terms rise in fuel prices.  Source: Fuel prices, BIS. Source: Inflation, RPI.
